Celebrations: Father’s Day, Transition to Reception RE: Stories Jesus heard Communication and Language: children will continue to develop speaking & listening skills through stories, songs and rhymes. Development of listening skills, responding and developing conversational skills. Develop role-play, turn taking and sharing. To communicate about their feelings and how their actions can affect others. Discuss what it means to be a good friend. Discussions around what we have enjoyed learning in Nursery. What are we looking forward to in Reception? Personal, Social and Emotional Development: To show care and concern for living things. Changes – transition to Reception. Prepare children – wearing a uniform, visiting the new class. Meet new teacher, moving up week. Physical Development: children will continue to develop their independence with toileting/coats/snack time. Develop gross and fine motor skills using different equipment and apparatus. Development of letter formation and cutting skills. Literacy: To recognise letters in their name, to recognise their name written down and to write their name in the correct direction. Listen to and engage in talk around new stories. Join in with repetitive language in the story and become familiar with new vocabulary. To be able to relate a story to their own life. Consolidation Understanding the World: To understand features of the life cycle of an animal (Daisy’s Egg) Expressive Arts and Design: Print artist Orla Kiely - Decorate an odd egg. Make and decorate duck puppets (link to 5 little ducks) Phonics At St James' we deliver daily Phonics sessions in EYFS and Key Stage One based on the phonics programme Little Wandle, in Nursery we teach Phase 1 phonics looking at the seven aspects. - On Friday each week we will send out a Home Activity for you to complete with your child. This will be printed out to you in a letter each week and put in your child's book bag.
- On Friday each week we will be sending home two books, a sharing book for you and your child to enjoy together, to help promote a love of reading; and a reading practice book
